Private Excursion to Penedès Wine Region

Home of Cava sparkling wines

Penedès, the second most important wine region of Spain is just 45 min. drive from Barcelona.

Its undulating hills covered with vineyards are ideally suited to grow grapes: gentle temperarures, right soil conditions, plenty of sunshine and, close enough to the sea to receive extra moisture.

Even though the Penedes produces plenty of good whites, reds and roses, this tour focuses on the speciality of the region: Cava wine. Cava is the official name for the sparkling wines produced locally following the “Methode Champenoise”. Penedes produces 99% of the Cava produced in Spain.

After a short drive from Barcelona, we'll reach Sant Sadurni d'Anoia, the Cava capital city, where we shall visit a boutique winery : from the vineyards to the underground cellars where the second fermentation (the one producing the bubbles) takes place.
At the end, we'll have a 5-Cavas tasting commented by the house expert.

The feel: interesting even if you have a moderate interest in wine as Cava elaboration has a couple lesser known aspects and even non-drinkers enjoy a glass of bubbly on special occasions..

Beyond Penedès: Full Day Excursions


Our private Penedè tour takes about 5 hours; should you prefer to spend the whole day out of town, we can add an "Extension" such as:

  • Another winery...
  • Montserrat
  • Sitges: a charming resort town by the sea
  • A la carte sightseeing in Barcelona

Lunch break to be arranged according to your preferences at a country side restaurant or by the water front, if you choose Sitges.

These amounts are for the whole party (1 to 2 and 3 to 6), not per person and include: vat (taxes), registered private transport by Mercedes sedan or Viano with driver and a licensed tour guide.

Pick-up and drop-off at the places of your choice in Barcelona, including the Port
Extra charges for the Airport or hotels out of town according to distance.

Prices do not include: expenses at the winery: € 48 per person (includes a private tour of the premises with a comented 5 Cavas tasting) nor lunch if you choose the full day option.
